Asanka is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical
Engineering at University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, currently on study
leave for postgraduate studies at Hong Kong University of Science and
Technology.
He graduated with a BSc(Engineering) with First Class
Honours in Electrical Engineering in 2002 and earned MSc from
the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2004. He got the Asian Development
Bank (ADB) Full scholarship while pursuing postgraduate studies in
Sri Lanka.
After finishing his undergraduate studies, he worked
with a private consultancy firm in Sri Lanka as an Engineering team
leader and involved with several major power sector project in Sri
Lanka. He jointed the University of Moratuwa as a lecturer in 2004
after completing his masters degree. At the same time he served to
the ABB Utilities GmbH (Germany) as the Deputy Site Manager of the
KG1-Water treatment plant project in Sri Lanka, which was
successfully handed over to Sri Lankan government in late 2006. In
this project, he was responsible for all the installations of
Instrumentation, Control Monitoring and Electrical (ICM-E) works and
he led five Engineers, six technical offices and around 40~50 skill
and non-skill workers.
